In a bid to attract more tourists from abroad, the Zanzibar Tourism Commission (ZTC) is now using four more international languages to sell Zanzibar by e-marketing. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Zanzibar Minister of Tourism, Trade, and Investment, said the government was using all possible means to advertise Zanzibar abroad.
She mentioned the new languages used to advertise Zanzibar as Chinese, French, Italian, and German through Internet, saying the response has been encouraging.
Although tourists and investors dominate the tourism industry, Zanzibar had been using English to advertise itself.
The Minister also said that international and national exhibitions (such as ITB -Berlin, BIR- Italy, WTM- London, INDABA- South Africa, TUR-Sweden, and SABASABA- Dar es Salaam) have been used to advertise Zanzibar.
"We take part in international workshops such as ATA, SULLIVAN, and WTO to expose Zanzibar, and in addition we also distribute DVDs/CD/VHS to sell our tourism attraction," she said.
